Crunchy Broccoli Salad

One of the best ways to clear out estrogen is by eating cruciferous vegetables.

Vegetables such as broccoli, kale, cabbage and silverbeet contain high levels of phytochemicals that can help reduce synthetic hormones in your body and reduce ‘post-pill side effects such as acne, hormonal imbalances, moodiness and irregular periods.

Broccoli is one of my favourite cruciferous vegetables because it is crunchy, satisfying and gives me an incredible amount of energy. This recipe also contains sprouts which are a staple in the Natural Contraception Method. They are jam-packed with essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals that strip out synthetic hormones, enhance liver detoxification pathways and energises the body.



  • 1 head of broccoli florets (about 3-4 cups)

  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise (homemade or sugar-free)

  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tbsp mustard

  • 2 tablespoons pine nuts

  • 200g of tempeh or protein (or protein of choice)

  • 1 cup Sprout Medley (a mixture of sprouts)


  1. Steam broccoli florets for 3-4 minutes then blanch under cold water

  2. Whilst broccoli strains, slightly fry the tempeh and pine nuts in a tablespoon of olive oil

  3. Whip together salad dressing of mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar and dijon mustard in a small bowl

  4. In a large bowl, fold together broccoli florets with dressing and top with tempeh and a slice of lemon.

  5. For an extra estrogen cleanse boost, sprinkle flax seeds on top. Serves 2-3
